EURO-THYMAIDE publishes EDTSA, the European Database of Thymus self-antigens

What is Euro-Thymaide ?

EURO-THYMAIDE is the first European Research Integrated Project (IP) aiming at understanding the mechanisms underlying the development of autoimmune diseases, by exploring the major biological functions of the thymus.

25 Partners of Euro-Thymaide bring together their expertise, resources and technologies in order to establish a European laboratory supra-structure working together to the same objective.

This approach follows the perspective of the European Research Area and is supported by the European Commission under Research and Development Framework Programme 6.

This website is the information platform of all what refers to this project, its development, the progress made in this research and constitute the reference tool for individuals and professionals interested in the subject.

"Millions of individuals worldwide are affected by autoimmune diseases that may target any of the body’s organs. In Europe alone, approximately 7% of the population suffers from one of the 70 distinct forms of autoimmunity". More info...

The EURO-THYMAIDE consortium is a unique cross-border research network, involving academic research groups, hospitals and SMEs from 12 countries.

This large network aims at proposing an original approach to prevent and cure autoimmune diseases based on novel insights into the physiological function of the thymus.
This ambitious research project explores mechanisms of autoimmunity resulting from a thymus dysfunction, and concurrently provides a unique platform for innovative diagnostics and for disease-specific therapies.

Type 1 diabetes is the first prototypic target of EURO-THYMAIDE project.
